Music with no boundaries 

Old traditions meet the modern world in Kajsa Balto's musical expression, where yoik and Northern Sami lyrics are presented in a soulful soundscape. Kajsa has made her mark with her distinctive vocal expression, and garnered praise from for both her releases and live performances. She performs her material with an enchanting intensity, creating powerful live experiences that leave listeners eager for more. 

Kajsa Balto is a Sami artist who grew up in Oslo, a background that has shaped her approach to Sami traditional music. Since her debut in 2017, she has written new music based on traditions from Kárášjohka, where her father comes from, and arranged traditional yoiks collected from within her own family. Kajsa has collaborated with, among others, the Arctic Philharmonic and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) and toured at home and abroad with her band consisting of cello, guitar and drums for the past few years.
